“Move forward, even if the plan isn’t 100%” – Mike Knapp
Sometimes, good enough is good enough. We’re all figuring this out together and it’s not uncommon to feel the tight grip of paralysis. It’s vital we get unstuck and get our teams moving forward. Even if the destination is foggy, we can tell we’re heading in the right direction.

How to: the seven key areas of the COVID-19 Agile Growth Checklist
Start hosting a weekly leadership team meeting. In that meeting, work with your leadership team to select your top 1-5 priorities (in whatever category) that you will action this week.
Constructive conflict is great (and a sign of trust). If there’s valid disagreement and feedback to go in another direction, consider it. Once aligned, get to work!
Review the list and progress made every week. What was done well? What wasn’t? Learn together, select new items to focus on and execute. Think lather, rinse, repeat.
What makes the Checklist and process work?
- It allows the team to focus and act together, which immediately brings a greater sense of shared certainty and control.
- It provides leaders with actionable, bite-sized steps to stabilize the business to become strong again.
Standing still allows for negativity to seep in, building anxiety and destroying certainty. The Checklist builds momentum.
As you lead your team down the path, don’t forget to look down and up periodically—where are we and where are we going? Start with cash flow, then talent, and start to rebuild your strategy after stabilizing.
